Oral health does not exist in isolation.
The health of the gums, bone, and oral tissues, and the way the body responds to dental treatment, are influenced by wider factors including inflammation, blood sugar control, and nutritional status.
At N1 Dental, nutritional status testing is used as a supportive screening tool to help us better understand factors that may influence healing, stability, and long-term outcomes.
We offer simple, in-clinic screening for selected health markers, including:
Testing is carried out using a small finger-prick blood sample, with results available within approximately 15 minutes.
Vitamin D – important for bone health, immune function, and tissue healing
CRP (C-reactive protein) – a marker associated with systemic inflammation
HbA1c – an indicator of longer-term blood sugar control
These results do not provide a medical diagnosis. Instead, they help us:
Identify factors that may influence healing after surgery or gum treatment
Plan treatment timing more thoughtfully
Discuss preventative strategies where appropriate
Decide whether additional support or medical input may be worth considering
In dentistry, healing matters. Patients with more stable nutritional and inflammatory profiles often tolerate treatment more smoothly and recover more predictably.
Testing may be discussed if you are planning surgical treatment such as extractions, implants, or bone grafting, if you have ongoing gum inflammation or delayed healing, or if you have a history of sensitivity, repeated dental issues, or slow recovery.
It may also be relevant if you want a more comprehensive, preventative approach to care.
It is not required for every patient, and is only recommended where it adds meaningful value.
Nutritional status testing is not provided in isolation.
At N1 Dental, it is most commonly used as part of a Biological Foundations Plus consultation, alongside a full dental examination and discussion of your medical history.
Results are always interpreted in context and, where appropriate, we may suggest that you discuss findings with your GP or healthcare provider.
Nutritional status testing
£99 per test
Note : All 3 tests are included as part of Biological Foundations Plus consultation.
