What is biological wisdom tooth removal?

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt and do not always have enough space. When a wisdom tooth is impacted or causing pain, swelling, or repeated infection, removal may be recommended.

At N1 Dental, we take a considered, biological approach designed to protect surrounding bone and tissues while supporting recovery.

Why a biological approach

Protecting surrounding structures

Protecting surrounding bone and tissues during the removal process.

Predictable, supported healing

Supporting predictable healing through careful technique and planning.

Reducing risk

Reducing risk to nearby structures, including nerves.

Healing and future considerations

  • In some higher-risk situations, particularly where a lower wisdom tooth lies very close to the nerve, it may be safer to remove only the upper part of the tooth and leave the roots in place

  • This approach allows the bone and gum to heal over while reducing the risk of nerve disturbance

  • If relevant, this option is discussed in detail during your consultation

Planning and imaging

Where appropriate, X-rays and 3D imaging are used to understand how close the tooth roots are to the main nerve before treatment is planned.

This information allows us to choose the safest approach and explain risks and options clearly, so you can make an informed decision.

Assessment and planning

Wisdom tooth removal begins with a thorough assessment, usually as part of a Biological Foundations Plus or Relief Foundations consultation.

This allows us to assess:

  • Overall health and medical history

  • Position of the wisdom tooth and surrounding bone

  • Relationship to nearby nerves, particularly for lower wisdom teeth

  • Factors that may influence healing and recovery

What to expect

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during treatment. Pressure and movement may be felt, but discomfort is not expected.

This allows us to assess:

  • For patients who require additional support, IV sedation is available to help you feel deeply relaxed throughout the procedure

  • The tooth is removed in a controlled manner that avoids unnecessary force on the surrounding bone, supporting smoother healing

Supportive therapies

Supportive therapies are used selectively and as part of a wider clinical plan.

Ozone therapy

PRF therapy

Bone grafting

Nutritional status testing

3D X-ray (CBCT)

Saliva microbiome testing

These measures support healing and decision-making and are not provided in isolation.

Fees

Wisdom Tooth Removal

£850 – £995

IV sedation, PRF, bone grafting, or additional investigations are discussed and confirmed in advance where required.

If you've been advised that a tooth needs to be removed and are concerned about healing, comfort, or future options, Biological Tooth Removal at N1 Dental may be appropriate.
