Some patients actively look for ozone in dentistry after hearing it may help with bacterial control and healing.
At N1 Dental, ozone therapy is used as a supportive measure alongside established dental treatments, not as a replacement for them. Its use is always selective, considered, and based on individual clinical need.

Ozone may be used as a supportive step in certain situations, including:
During gum treatment, to help reduce bacterial load in periodontal pockets as part of a wider plan that still includes thorough cleaning of the teeth and roots
When managing tooth decay or root canal infections, to help lower bacterial levels in prepared areas before the tooth is restored or sealed
During surgical procedures such as biological tooth removal, wisdom tooth removal, or ceramic implant placement, to help reduce bacterial contamination and support a cleaner healing environment
Ozone is never used in isolation and does not replace mechanical cleaning, restorative care, or surgery where these are required.
Oxygen normally exists as O₂. Ozone is O₃ – a form of oxygen made up of three atoms rather than two.
When used in controlled medical and dental settings, this structure gives ozone recognised antimicrobial properties.
In dentistry, ozone is applied locally and briefly, and only as part of a wider treatment plan.
Ozone application is straightforward and integrated into your existing appointment.
Ozone is applied locally and for a short duration
The process is non-invasive and comfortable
It is incorporated into an existing appointment
Suitability is always confirmed before use
Whether ozone is appropriate will be discussed as part of your consultation.
Ozone therapy is an area of ongoing and emerging research within dentistry.
While its antimicrobial properties are well recognised, not all studies show additional benefit in every clinical situation.
For this reason, ozone is used selectively at N1 Dental, where it aligns with current evidence, clinical judgement, and the specific needs of the patient.
In our day-to-day clinical practice, ozone has proven to be a useful adjunct when used thoughtfully.
It fits with our wider approach of combining established, evidence-based treatments with carefully selected emerging techniques that may enhance outcomes without compromising safety.
Ozone is one of several supportive tools we may use to complement conventional care.

Ozone therapy is provided as an adjunct to treatment where clinically appropriate. Any associated fees depend on the primary treatment being carried out.
